Food Safety, Ethical Sourcing & Sustainability
When we're developing new products or considering new packaging, ethical sourcing, food safety as well as sustainability and recycling are all really important considerations.
For example, the lables on our cans are made of Cornstarch (PLA) which is a compostable material.
In the UK many household groceries including beers and other canned products contain a coating which is associated with health concerns. "Bisphenol A, or BPA for short, is a chemical substance that's been used in polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resin since the 1960s. The primary use of BPA is in plastic bottles, food storage containers, and it is still used in the lining of many canned goods. BPA resin is commonly coated on the inside of tins and cans to prevent metal from contaminating food. The Independent found BPA was present in 18 of the UK's best-selling tins. Some world-wide brand fizzy drinks are lined with a BPA resin, which has been banned in some countries as it has become associated with a range of ailments"
We have successfully sourced alternatives to BPA epoxy lined cans for our cider! We continue to support these new and innovative materials and commit to using them wherever practically possible.

Apple Nutrition
We all know we should be eating healthy each day for cardio and digestive health, but many don't realise that apples are a tasty source of several important vitamins and minerals and fibre. Apples are diet friendly too - none of the bad stuff such as saturated fat, low/no sodium and no cholesterol. Furthermore - apples don't need plastic wrapping!
An average apple contains around 80 calories, and can deliver more fibre than a bowl of cereal - the fibre in apples slows the release of carbohydrates into the bloodstream, providing the energy you need over time without blood sugar spikes.
Apples also contain small quantities of minerals such as potassium - an electrolyte thats key for heart health. Apples contain only the natural fruit sugar, fructose - no added artificial sweeteners that the body can't digest.
Apples are one of the top food sources of boron, which is important for bone health. The mineral boron is key to building muscle and strong bones. Our body does not produce it, so we need to eat it! Boron helps the body to absorb calcium and magnesium, it also appears to affect estrogen and testosterone.
A less well known fact is apples are a great food source of soluble fibre which is important for a healthy gut, which controls our immune system. Also the pectin in apples and juice is a prebiotic, providing food for friendly gut bacteria. There's a good reason for the adage - an apple a day, keeps the doctor away - as all this promotes cardiovascular and digestive health, and help protect against disease and cancer,
